Where Worlds Meet on the Neva: A Student's Perspective on SPIEF 2026
The 29th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2026), held from June 3 to 6 at the ExpoForum Convention and Exhibition Centre, confirmed its reputation as one of the most important platforms for global economic dialogue – a forum that has been called the "Russian Davos" and which has grown since its founding in 1997 into a gathering that drew over 24,500 participants from nearly 140 countries this year. As a student of International Business, attending SPIEF was not merely an extracurricular activity – it was, in the most direct sense, a live seminar on the forces reshaping the global economy.

The students from the International Programme in Business and Economics finance specialization program successfully terminated an internship in the internal audit department of Gazprom neft
The interns executed limited audit of the group daughter companies through analysis of financial statements and the companies financial position, verification of financial indicators with documents, analytical audit procedures checking correctness of information, oral and written communication with the companies, preparation of the official documents, holding the terms. Students received first working skills from passing an interview till the full responsibility for the project ; and the experience of the side by side work with the professionals of the highest level in the company - leader.

On May 16, 2026, as part of the X International Scientific and Practical Online Conference of Students, Undergraduates and Postgraduates "Business Transformation: Challenges and Solutions", a large-scale master class "Financial institutions and technologies of the future: a joint view of Russia and India" was held. The moderator was Varvara Vadimovna Nazarova, PhD in Economics, Associate Professor, Head of the Finance Department and Academic Director of the Finance Master's program.

On April 28, 2026, a joint online seminar of the research group of the HSE - St. Petersburg Department of Finance and Cbonds was held on the topic "ESG and the bond market: profitability, data and market transformation." The seminar was devoted to discussing how the issuer's ESG characteristics affect the cost of borrowing and investment decisions in modern market conditions.
