Professor Anton Baranov Spoke at North British Functional Analysis Seminar in Newcastle, Great Britain
From October 9th – 10th, 2015, Anton Baranov, Professor at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Business Informatics, was a guest speaker at the North British Functional Analysis Seminar, which took place at Newcastle University in Great Britain. He shared his impressions of the event.
On September 21-23 the 17th International Conference on Harbour, Maritime & Multimodal Logistics Modelling and Simulation (HMS) was held in Italy. This year researchers from over 40 countries including Australia, Austria, Brazil, Britain, Germany, Italy, India, Spain, Canada, China, Norway, France, USA and Japan participated in the event.
Sergey Slobodyan is appointed Head of the Department of Economics and Academic Supervisor of the master’s programme ‘Applied Economics and Mathematical Methods’. Vladimir Matveenko will become Academic Supervisor of the Department of Economics.
The lecturers at the Department of Finance conduct research in different fields. During the summer many of our staff members participated in international conferences and published their papers.
Lukas Geyer, a free-mover student from the University of Bayreuth in Germany, is currently studying in the Bachelor’s programme in Economics at HSE St. Petersburg. Lukas recently spoke to the HSE news service about his studies and connections to Russian culture.
The new HSE International Centre for Health Economics, Management and Policy (CHEMP) is seeking to recruit a number of Masters (or advanced Bachelors) students to work or undertake study/research experience within the activities of the research centre.
Research on game theory has a strong history in Russia, and this year’s opening of the new HSE International Laboratory for Game Theory and Decision-Making in St. Petersburg will only help it grow stronger. Leading the laboratory, which will include researchers from the St. Petersburg Institute for Economics and Mathematics, will be Herve Moulin, Donald J. Robertson Chair of Economics at the Adam Smith Business School at the University of Glasgow. Prof. Moulin is a scholar who is known for his research contributions in mathematical economics, in particular in the fields of mechanism design, social choice, game theory and fair division.
The Bachelor’s programme in Economics and the Master’s programme in Finance at HSE in St. Petersburg have successfully gained accreditation from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). Graduates of the bachelor’s programme will now be exempt from two and Graduates of the master’s programme, from four ACCA exams.
