Student Life
'Studying at HSE University-St Petersburg has been a highly rewarding experience with a strong academic focus and practical orientation. The faculty are knowledgeable and supportive, and the learning environment is truly international.'
Olivia Adjoa Anamporiyah, Ghana,
2nd-year student of the Master’s programme ‘Data Analytics for Business and Economics’
'Studies at HSE University-St Petersburg weren’t easy but definitely worthy—I felt the high professionalism of our professors. Their competence and involvement in the educational process inspired me for the hard work and constant development'.
— Rakhmetulla Ongarbaev, Uzbekistan
Graduate of the Master’s programme 'Civil and Commercial Law'
'Over two years at the university, I realized that the most valuable thing here is not the university prestige and not even the quality of education but people. People who became my second home far away from my motherland: groupmates, neighbours in the dormitory, professors and employees with whom I constantly communicate. This warm atmosphere helps to enjoy the studies because we study not simply for a diploma but for real knowledge which will come in handy in life—non scholae, sed vitae discimus.'
Ramil Ibrahimov, Azerbaijan,
2nd-year student of the Bachelor’s programme ‘Political Science and World Politics’
'The HSE environment is truly friendly for international students. It is easy to communicate with staff in English, and there are different signs both in Russian and English on campus. The student support team really helped me adapt, as well as my Russian buddy'.
Ayomide Favour Shola Oni, Nigeria,
2nd-year student of the Master’s programme 'Arts and Culture Management'
'The atmosphere at the university was extremely welcoming. As an international student, adapting to life in Russia could have been overwhelming, but the International Office made the process much smoother by helping with bureaucracy and practical issues. Because of this support and the openness of people around me, I felt like I truly fit into my life in Russia rather than just passing through it. HSE University-St Petersburg was my comfort space.'
Lakshmi Panicker, India,
Graduate of the Master’s programme ‘Comparative Politics of Eurasia’
'Studying at HSE University-St Petersburg has been a truly transformative academic experience for me. The university encourages independent thinking, meaningful discussions, and deep understanding rather than simple memorization. I feel that my analytical skills, confidence, and academic maturity have grown significantly here'.
Syed Muhammad Salman Haider Shamsi, Pakistan,
2nd-year student of the Master's programme 'International Business in the Asia-Pacific Region'
