Performance Management in Action

Elizaveta Markovskaya

The discipline is based on the course I previously developed and was accredited by ACCA, Performance Management. As part of the discipline, we have a business game included in the HSE collection of the gamifications cases . The scenario of the game implies that companies present their development strategies to the strategic committee. The strategic committee evaluates the compliance of the strategy, strategic goals with the financial plan and the current financial condition of the company. I always invite my business colleagues to participate in the business game. Olga Nikolaevna Voronova, marketing director of the «Lengiprotrans» company, took part in our game, held on March 15. She provided the teams with valuable advice on how to present projects to stakeholders, how to better present analytical information, and how to effectively organize work in international teams.

In our practical activities, my colleagues and I participate in trainings and model negotiations to prepare for various difficult situations that we encounter in our business practice. In my opinion, the interactive format with the participation of colleagues from the practical field allows us to immerse students deeper into the realities of business and demonstrate how the knowledge they have acquired works in practice.

For several years now I have been taking part in business games organized at the Higher School of Economics by Elizaveta Igorevna Markovskaya. I am immensely glad that games have returned to offline mode, when you can see with your own eyes the bright minds and sparkling eyes of young talents. Each such event requires careful preparation on the part of both students and teachers. For the speakers, this is, of course, a real challenge and a test of both teamwork and the personal qualities of each participant. It was very pleasant and interesting to observe the work of teams with an international composition, how people of different cultures showed their strongest traits in one or another aspect of teamwork. All participants showed a high level of financial and economic preparation. I hope that the students will remember this time of working together as something

I was thoroughly impressed by the dedication and ingenuity displayed by my master's students in their financial management course capstone project. Their meticulous research and innovative solutions showcased their exceptional understanding of the subject matter and their potential to excel in the field of finance.

Being an external expert, I paid more attention to the students' ability to present their ideas, defend the proposed strategies and interpret the results of the analysis into simpler and more understandable formulations - I am glad that many of them did it successfully. I am sure that this experience was useful both for me and for the teams, and it will definitely find its application in the future.

Team's «Amazon- 2» (Mohammad Nawfal Chowdhury, Anastasiia Beliakova, Artem Karandashov - students of the programme 'Data Analytics for Business and Economics') opinion:

Our project defense was organized in such an interactive manner that we had the opportunity to present the results of our comprehensive analysis while receiving valuable feedback from our group mates, lecturer, and an invited expert, which significantly enriched the discussion. The dynamic exchange of ideas and constructive criticism provided us with new insights and perspectives, enhancing our understanding of the project's strengths and areas for improvement. Overall, the collaborative nature of the defense fostered a supportive environment conducive to learning and growth.
