Round Table Presentation of Programme Students at the Saint Petersburg Labor Forum: "The Role of Trust and Networking in Expanding Career Opportunities"
On February 21, 2024, second-year master's students from the St. Petersburg Higher School of Economics in the "Management and Analytics for Business" program, Veronika Anushchenko, Ekaterina Manannikova, and Alexandra Isaeva, spoke at the round table of the Labor Forum on "The Role of Trust and Networking in Expanding Career Opportunities."
On the Labor Forum the students presented the initial results of their research on the employer's role in enhancing employees' family well-being. The research particularly focused on employees with children. The results showed that adaptive qualities are crucial components of well-being both at work and in the family. Furthermore, employees can enhance their professionalism through skills developed while raising children. Self-esteem among working parents increases, leading to a greater sense of well-being within the family. Favorable working conditions, supported by employees' adaptive skills, also significantly elevate their well-being levels.
Interestingly, the presence of children with health conditions among employees did not show a direct correlation with well-being. Thus, even if an employee's family includes a special needs child, there are ways to cope with new challenges, continue professional development, and feel good.
The research was conducted under the guidance of Bordunos A.K. and Volkova N.V., with support from the Russian Science Foundation grant No. 24-28-00209, https://rscf.ru/project/24-28-00209/, as well as the Charity Fund "BELA.Children-Butterflies" and ANO "Be Yourself."
The status of these same respondents will be further examined in the coming months after conducting a follow-up survey. This longitudinal study will assess the effectiveness of career counseling provided by the fund to its beneficiaries.
