Analytics for Management and Economics Conference has ended at HSE University — St. Petersburg. In 2020, the conference had a distributed online format. Four months, thirteen tracks, over 300 participants from 20 countries — we tell you what it was like.

All SEM faculty and students are welcome to join the second Brown Bag SEMinar at October 22. Evgeny Antipov, PhD, Associate Professor of the Department of Management, will do a talk related to the issues of Causal Inference in Marketing.

SEM Regular research seminar – Brown Bag SEMinar – is returning for a new season. We have had more than ten meetings during the previous season. The majority of these meetings were devoted to research paper presentations by SEM faculty and doctoral students. Many researchers have had to change their event/conference participation plans because of COVID this year. So we do want to provide you with an additional opportunity to discuss your research ideas and research papers during our seminar. You are very welcome to become a speaker for forthcoming meetings in November, December and January. Our first meeting will happen on October 6^th.

HSE University has taken 41st place, becoming the only Russian university on the Top-50 of Times Higher Education Young University Rankings.

We are going to have 2 presentations:On 10^th of June Olga Okulova, SEM’s doctoral student, will present preliminary results of her study, which is focused on the value that AACSB accreditation provides for the business schools.On 11^th of June a guest speaker –  prof. Sami Vähämaa (Finland, University of Vaasa, School of Accounting and Finance)  - will present a paper that examines the effect of facial attractiveness on the compensation of bank Chief Executive Officers (CEOs).

Not only scholars but also experts of various domains teach at HSE University - Saint Petersburg. Maxim Lapin, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Moscow Exchange, teaches courses in strategy and business analytics for the students of the 'Management and Analytics for Business' Master's programme. The Editorial Office talked to Mr. Lapin about Saint Petersburg campus particularities, distance learning, and books that are worth reading for future managers.
