From April 26 to May 7, a team of professors and students from HSE University-St Petersburg conducted a field study in the Indian Himalayas. We asked Aleksei Sorbale, an academic supervisor of the Bachelor's programme 'Political Science and World Politics', and Pavel Bazarov, a graduate of the Bachelor's programme and a student of the Master's programme 'Global and Regional History', to tell us about their research and share their impressions of the expedition.

HSE University has announced the results of the first Competition of Joint Basic Research Projects 'International Academic Cooperation' held from December 11, 2023, to April 8, 2024. Highly successful research teams at HSE University, having extensive experience in collaborating with international partners, took part in the competition. A total of 25 applications were submitted from departments across HSE University's campuses.

Pretty soon, six students of HSE University-St Petersburg will go on an expedition to the Himalayas jointly organised with the University of Delhi. We found out the details of the international project from Alexander Sorokin, Dean of the St Petersburg School of Social Sciences, and addressed some questions to Agata Kurnos, 4th-year student of the Bachelor's programme 'Public Policy and Analytics', who will join the expedition.

On March 17, the New Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theatre hosted the conference about creative industries 'CIBA: Creative industries. Business. Art'. It is a joint project of the students of the Master's programme 'Arts and Culture Management' and the theatre. At the CIBA venue, experts discussed the topic of creative crises in the work of a creator.

On April 6–8, HSE University-St Petersburg will hold the HSE International Model United Nations. Registration is open till March 1. Participation is open to both university and high school students.

A report by researchers from the Strategic Entrepreneurship Centre received an award at the international conference AIB-MENA (Academy of International Business—Middle-East North Africa) in Morocco. The authors of the work were Galina Shirokova and Aleksandra Zakharova.

In 2024, the applicants for the St Petersburg School of Art and Design will be able to choose a new educational track 'Fashion Design'. We talked to Leonid Alekseev—the track supervisor, a fashion designer and founder of the brand 'House of Leo'—about St Petersburg style, the fashion industry, launching his own brand, cooperation with the Mariinsky Theatre and what the students will learn over four years of the studies.

HSE University-St Petersburg has hosted open lectures by Tu Thi Loan, professor at the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts Studies. The lectures were organised by the Department for Chinese, South and Southeast Asian Studies of the Institute of Asian and African Studies.

Over this year, scientists from HSE University-St Petersburg have managed to bring in more external grant funding from the Russian Science Foundation. The university launched new laboratories and projects, developed research in partnership with other universities, and some articles were published in international journals.
