On December 9, 2022, first-year students of the Master's programme 'Arts and Culture Management' visited the New Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theatre. Olesya Markova, staff member of the New Stage, told the students about the complex organisational structure of the venue and demonstrated the capabilities of the theatre space. She also explained the specifics of the art management profession.

Aigul Akhmetova, student of the Bachelor’s programme ‘Sociology and Social Informatics’, participated in the course ‘Business Development in Europe’ at the summer school at Rennes School of Business in France. She told us about her exciting trip to France and shared her experience of participating in the summer school programme.

Alena Vasileva, student of the Bachelor’s programme ‘International Business and Management Studies’, is currently on academic mobility at the City University of Hong Kong College of Business. Alena shared her impressions of studying at the partner university.

The first semester will come to an end soon. The students have already met their groupmates and lecturers, faced their first exams, and received their first grades. We talked to our international first-year students about their impressions of the university and its educational programmes.

One of the most important deadlines for HSE students of any programme is the one for choosing a topic for term papers. For some people, it might be hard to define the area of their research interests due to the great variety of theories, events, and approaches. Others might have no idea what to write about. To help sort out potential topics, we looked at those chosen by political scientists for their papers last year.

HSE University participates in numerous international exchange programmes. We spoke to Alla Nadezhina, a participant of one of these programmes, about her time at the University of Tartu.

Arina Chebotareva is a 2022 graduate of the Master's programme 'Business and Politics in Modern Asia'. She successfully found employment in the partner company of the programme right after the internship. We asked Arina to tell us about her experience.

The Bachelor's programme 'Philology' welcomes both Russian and international students. We talked to Mikhail Beshimov, who entered HSE University-St Petersburg via the HSE International Olympiad and came to study from Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. In the interview, he shared his experience of participating in the Olympiad, the difficulties of moving to Russia and his first months study. Mikhail also shared some advice for international applicants who want to enrol in the Philology programme at HSE University-St Petersburg.
