Double degree tracks have been created as a result of a partnership between HSE – St. Petersburg and other programmes offered by well-known foreign universities. Participants are given the opportunity to study abroad for a year at a partner university. Upon successful defence of a thesis in front of a joint commission, students receive fully fledged diplomas from two universities.

It is no secret that when preparing for admission to a master's degree programme graduates should take advantage of every possible opportunity to stand out among others. One way to do so is by taking part in the Winter School, which is organised every year by HSE – St. Petersburg. The event does not only help graduates to decide on the direction of future postgraduate study, but also adds extra points to their portfolios. In this article, the Winter School last year's participants told our editorial board how participation in the event helped them enter master’s degree programmes.

During her studies in the Sociology and Social Informatics programme, a fourth-year student Dina Vasina got interested in disciplines related to data analysis and mathematics. In November, Dina completed her internship at Yandex within the Yandex.Poisk project where she got a chance to try her hand at product management. In this interview, the student shared with us her thoughts on studying sociology, future career plans and impressions on the internship.

In 2021, HSE University – St. Petersburg for the first time launched an admission campaign for the following master's programmes: ‘Data Analytics for Politics and Society, ‘Computational Biology and Bioinformatics’, and ‘Language Technologies in Business and Education’. With nearly half of the academic year being over, we decided to ask the master’s students about what impressions they have of the programmes so far.

In the first weeks of October, HSE international students embarked on two exciting adventures. We gathered together on a boat tour along the picturesque St Petersburg’s canals and made a day trip to explore the medieval architecture of Veliky Novgorod. Here’s a quick recap of the outings.

Nikita Sidorov is a fourth-year student of the Political Science and World Politics programme. Recently he went on an academic exchange and spent a semester at one of the most prestigious universities in the world – University College of London (UCL). Due to the threat of the spread of the novel coronavirus infection COVID-19 and in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation, HSE University – St. Petersburg will temporarily switch to a distance learning. The Russian Museum of Ethnography and the HSE Art and Design School St. Petersburg will present an exhibition of works by the school’s students. The HSE OPEN DAYS: Poster, Sign, Book exhibition will run at the museum from September 15–26.
