A famous monument of constructivism—the Rope Shop of the Red Nailer factory—became a new educational building of HSE University-St Petersburg. Approximately four thousand students will study in the building at 25 Liniya Street on Vasilyevsky Island.

Each year, hundreds of students from all over the world decide to pursue knowledge at HSE University- St Petersburg. This journey is filled with excitement, hopes, and discoveries: from choosing a programme, submitting documents, attending interviews, and passing entrance exams to receiving that coveted acceptance letter and finally arriving in Russia.

And once they take those first steps in a new country, an entire world of opportunities opens up, far beyond classrooms and lecture halls. Extracurricular life becomes an integral part of students’ experience, allowing them to delve deeper into the culture of the host country, make new friends, and uncover their talents. Maksim Babikov graduated from the programme 'International Business and Management' in 2024. When he was a student, Maksim started actively building his career: he undertook internships in product management and HR spheres and then took an interest in analytics. For a year, the graduate has been working as a risk analyst at 'Alfa-Bank' and continued his education in the Master's programme 'Data Analytics for Business and Economics'. Alexander Migal, 2nd-year student of the Master's programme 'Language Technology in Business and Education', spoke at the conference 'International Natural Language Generation Conference' (INLG) on natural language which took place in Japan. At the event, he presented the results of the team project—a competition in generating fanfics about the Harry Potter universe.

On November 9, the building on Kantemirovskaya Street hosted Pakistani Culture Night. More than 80 people attended the event, including students and alumni of St Petersburg universities as well as Raja Qadeer Ahmed, a representative of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The event was organised by Syed Junaid Abbas, an international student of HSE University-St Petersburg.

St Petersburg hosted the traditional philological conference 'October Readings—2024,' which addressed issues of inequality. It gathered more than 100 students and professors from universities across Russia and the CIS countries.

In October, the faculty and staff of HSE University-St Petersburg held the HSE International Olympiad and Mathematical Olympiad by HSE University at three schools in Hanoi. The tasks on social sciences were designed by professors of HSE University-St Petersburg. During the trip, the delegation also visited higher education institutions in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, including VNU University of Economics and Business (VNU-UEB), a partner of HSE University-St Petersburg. There, professors delivered a series of open lectures for students.

On October 10, there was an awarding ceremony for the students from the Master's programme 'International Business in the Asia-Pacific Region'. The students received certificates for participation in the Summer School 'High Growth Firms—Processes and Causes' organised by the Brazilian Fundação Dom Cabral.
