HSE University has improved its positions in the Shanghai Ranking (ARWU) thanks to continued improvement in several indicators. For the second year in a row, HSE has ranked 4th or 5th among Russian universities, while globally, it has improved its rank to now being in the 601–700 group.

Evgeny Akulov and Evgeniya Zubko, graduates of the Bachelor's programme 'Political Science and World Politics', took part in the World Universities Debating Championships Belgrade 2022. They qualified for the playoffs and were ranked among the top 10 teams in the category 'English as a Foreign Language'.

HSE University is always proud to share its graduates’ success stories. Anastasia Galina graduated from the Political Science programme in 2014 and has since reached great heights in her career. Anastasia works for the United Nations, doing research and creating a platform for data exchange within the organisation's agencies. HSE University's St Petersburg campus is committed to developing research and science. It has 18 scientific departments and centres, including seven international laboratories led by world-renowned scientists whose studies are dedicated to solving challenges at the national and global levels. In this article, we present the Editor's Choice of the top 10 scientific achievements of the campus for the year.

The HSE – St. Petersburg team prepared a recap of the most significant events of the outgoing 2021 year, while the campus director Anna Tyshetskaya shared her future plans for the campus.

Students of the HSE – St. Petersburg School of Design took part in St. Petersburg Young Design – a contest for young designers and artists. Alexandra Arsentieva clinched first place in the ‘Community’ special project, Ksenia Gernik won second place in the ‘Recycle Sea’ nomination, and another unique project by HSE students was a finalist in the ‘Saint-Petersburg Merchandise’ nomination. The participants also got a chance to learn new things at a unique poster workshop curated for the competition by Mitya Kharshak, Head of the School of Design.
