This summer, master's students Polina Esaulenko, Vitaly Bushuev and Bernard Kwakye completed the Summer School 'High Growth Firms—Processes and Causes' organised by Fundação Dom Cabral. Within one week, students got to know the peculiarities of the Latin American business. Yesterday, the building in Griboyedova Canal Embankment hosted an awarding ceremony of certificates from the Brazilian university for the participants.

FDC is the best business school in Brazil which occupies high positions in institutional and subject rankings. It offers a wide range of educational programmes that correlate with the ones at HSE University. Among the staff of the business school are world-renowned experts in the sphere of entrepreneurship, business and economics. We are very happy that our students are interested in Latin America and hope to carry out joint projects with FDC soon.

The universities are actively making plans for the future. Next week, the delegation from HSE University-St Petersburg will go to Brazil on an academic mission to consolidate officially the partnership with Fundação Dom Cabral. 'Besides, we are already planning to create a joint bachelor's programme', says Maria Kiseleva.

The summer school is remote but still very eventful. During the classes, the active entrepreneurs from Brazil shared their experience of working with large firms in the country, we worked in groups a lot and actively used artificial intelligence. Though it was hard to study with a time difference of eight hours, it was beneficial and interesting to get to know the Brazilian point of view on the business and culture of Latin America.

The majority of our course covered investments in startups which I am particularly interested in—I work in an international financial company which engages in these things. In the lectures, we mostly learnt about Brazilian business but during the discussions, we talked about companies from different countries—even from Africa. I shared my working experience and carefully listened to my colleagues' examples. It is important to take an interest in how the companies are doing—you never know who you will have to work with.
