
HSE University Experts Take Part in Preparing Report ‘Russia—Oman—Partnership Prospects’ at SPIEF 2024
The report, prepared by the Roscongress Foundation and experts of the HSE Institute for Public Administration and Governance, covers the current situation in the economy of the Sultanate of Oman and the prospects for Russian-Omani partnership. Prior to SPIEF 2024, HSE was the first Russian university to sign a cooperation agreement with the University of Nizwa (Oman).

Political Science Students Hold Research Conference 'May Forum'
On May 16-17, HSE University-St Petersburg hosted the first student research conference on Political Science and related disciplines 'May Forum'. It gathered more than 50 young researchers from five Russian regions. The students organised the events with the financial support of the HSE Centre for Student Academic Development.

From April 26 to May 7, a team of professors and students from HSE University-St Petersburg conducted a field study in the Indian Himalayas. HSE University has announced the results of the first Competition of Joint Basic Research Projects 'International Academic Cooperation' held from December 11, 2023, to April 8, 2024. Highly successful research teams at HSE University, having extensive experience in collaborating with international partners, took part in the competition. A total of 25 applications were submitted from departments across HSE University's campuses.

Expedition to the Himalayas: What To Expect
Pretty soon, six students of HSE University-St Petersburg will go on an expedition to the Himalayas jointly organised with the University of Delhi. We found out the details of the international project from Alexander Sorokin, Dean of the St Petersburg School of Social Sciences, and addressed some questions to Agata Kurnos, 4th-year student of the Bachelor's programme 'Public Policy and Analytics', who will join the expedition.

CIBA 2024: Immersing in Nature of Creativity on the New Stage of Alexandrinsky Theatre
On March 17, the New Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theatre hosted the conference about creative industries 'CIBA: Creative industries. Business. Art'. It is a joint project of the students of the Master's programme 'Arts and Culture Management' and the theatre. At the CIBA venue, experts discussed the topic of creative crises in the work of a creator.

Moscow and St Petersburg Rank among Global Leaders in Spatial and Technological Development
HSE experts, in collaboration with researchers from China and India, have participated in the development of the Urban & Innovation Environment Index, a global ranking of cities. Moscow ranks fifth in the final global rating of urban agglomerations and first in the rating for those in BRICS+ countries. St Petersburg ranks seventh in the global rating and third in the BRICS+ rating.

HSE and Indian Institute of Technology Delhi Agree on Joint Research Projects
HSE University-St Petersburg and the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi), a leading Indian university, have agreed to launch joint research projects in the field of social, political studies, humanities, and data analysis for master's students. On the Russian side, this work will be coordinated by the HSE St Petersburg School of Social Sciences.

HSE University-St Petersburg to Hold Sixth HSEIMUN Conference
On April 6–8, HSE University-St Petersburg will hold the HSE International Model United Nations. Registration is open till March 1. Participation is open to both university and high school students.

Neural Networks of Power: AI Unravels Knots and Tangles in Relationships between Humans, Elves and Hobbits
One of the most popular writers of the last century, John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, was born on January 3rd. Researchers from HSE University, AIRI and MISSIS have used machine learning to explore the social connections between the characters of his Middle-earth universe. The algorithm managed to create an accurate picture of the social structures and dynamics of the characters' relationships, providing a unique map of interactions in the epic world. The results of the work were published in IEEE Xplore.
