The Arrival: Performative Lectures in the Liminal Space Between States and Cultures
From December 1 to 17, Dr Margarita Kuleva, head of the Department of Design and Contemporary Art at the Higher School of Economics – St Petersburg will give a series of performative lectures dedicated to changing relations between space, body, and culture in the context of new travel. The project is structured around auto-ethnographic experiences and a historical investigation of 19th-20th century Russian culture in motion. The lectures will be held in the English Channel Tunnel, an aircraft hangar, and Pushkin House in London, with access to live streaming.

A recipient of numerous professional awards, designer, artist, and project curator, Andrei Lublinsky has been placed among the most prominent public art artists in Russia, according to AD Magazine. Professor Lyublinsky is also a lecturer in the Division of Design and Contemporary Art at HSE University in Saint Petersburg. In this interview, he will reveal some secrets of the profession and get under the hood of the public art business.

HSE St. Petersburg and the University of Helsinki Launch New Joint Course
From January 2022, students of HSE St. Petersburg and the University of Helsinki can take a joint online course on social policy in Russia and other post-Soviet countries. It was designed for students of the master's programmes 'Comparative Politics of Eurasia', 'Comparative Politics of Russia and Eurasia', as well as for students of the master's program of the University of Helsinki. Dr Anna Tarasenko, Associate Professor at the Department of Political Science and International Relations and Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Comparative Governance Studies, takes us through the new course and her expectations from teaching in an innovative setting with foreign colleagues.

Now students of five educational programmes can take courses developed by lecturers from HSE and partner universities. Is There (NO)Future for Cultural Institution? International Seminar Takes Place in Istanbul
Dr Margarita Kuleva along with co-organisers Eda Yigit and Orhan Cem Çetin participated in the (NO) Future Institutions event held between the 15th and 17th December in Istanbul. Supported by the Centre for German and European Studies, St Petersburg State University, Bielefeld University and the ‘Digital Art History’ Research Group (HSE University), the seminar focused on the modern challenges facing cultural institutions, their curators, and associated workers. The event was introduced and chaired by Dr Kuleva, who was inspired by the rapid changes surrounding the future survival of cultural institutions in the pandemic age.
