On April 8–10, HSE University-St Petersburg will hold the fifth Model United Nations conference (MUN). The event will take place offline in English and both current and prospective students can participate. The application deadline is March 15. Central Asian Survey, published by Taylor & Francis, is the leading international peer-reviewed, multi-disciplinary journal concerned with the history, politics, cultures, religions and economies of Central Asia and the Caucasus. Oleg Korneev, Associate Professor at the Department of Political Science and International Affairs, HSE University-St Petersburg, co-edited the special issue ‘EU–Central Asian Interactions: Perceptions, Interests and Practices’ together with his colleagues Rick Fawn (University of St Andrews) and Karolina Kluczewska (University of Ghent).

Aigul Akhmetova, student of the Bachelor’s programme ‘Sociology and Social Informatics’, participated in the course ‘Business Development in Europe’ at the summer school at Rennes School of Business in France. She told us about her exciting trip to France and shared her experience of participating in the summer school programme.

In 2022, Yadviga Sinyavskaya from the Laboratory for Social and Cognitive Informatics published an article about privacy on social media. It is a part of the laboratory's project on how people build connections and what helps them. We talked to the sociologist about how people try to protect personal information and what makes these measures more effective.

Anatolie Cecalenco was born in the Republic of Moldova and entered the Bachelor's programme 'Political Science' at HSE University. Then, he continued his education on the Master's programme 'Business and Politics in Modern Asia' at HSE University-St Petersburg. Currently, Anatolie is a PhD student and a lecturer at the campus. He also works as an ESG specialist for the company Business Solutions and Technology (which formerly operated in Russia as Deloitte). We talked to the PhD student about his studies and work.

Alexander Khodachek, President of HSE University-St Petersburg, participated in the discussion of the city's technological capabilities in terms of building relations between Russia and China. The experts are sure that the future of various fields is in the hands of young professionals who know the Chinese language and culture.

Yury Kabanov, Academic Supervisor of the Bachelor's programme 'Political Science and World Politics', and his colleagues conducted a research on public administration in Russia during the pandemic and public opinion of people in the regions.

Alina Kamanina is a graduate of the Bachelor's Programme 'Sociology and Social Informatics' at HSE University – Saint Petersburg. She has been working as a game analyst in 'G5 Entertainment AB' company for two years. We talked to the graduate about how she entered the game industry, what criteria she used to choose a university and why critical thinking is the main university skill, in her opinion.
