On a grey autumn day, it is always nice to warm up by reliving memories of summer adventures. This year, the balmy weather did not leave our city till mid-October, and a summer mood also lingered at HSE University – St Petersburg with the IV International Summer School 'The Topography of Imperial Power: Political and Cultural Space of Saint Petersburg' which ran from September 11 till October 2, 2018.

Another Summer School season has come to an end at HSE University St. Petersburg. Or hasn’t it?

Addie Bacon, an American student from Smith College, who studies the Russian language and literature in the US. She had spent six months at HSE University St. Petersburg attending ‘Russian, Eurasian, and Post-Soviet Studies Programme’. Before she left to go back home we asked her a few questions about her experience studying and living in Russia.

What happens to our university campus when summer arrives and lectures are over? Does the cafeteria close, and are the tumbleweeds rolling all over the place? This is not the case! Saint Petersburg HSE Summer School 2018 begins, bringing our beloved red brick walls to life.

Thursday, December 21, 2017 the student group of University College London gathered to take tea with traditional pancakes, to speak Russian, and to thank the academic staff for the time they have spent in St. Petersburg. We asked them about the city, studies, student life, and overall impressions.

We continue talking about universities that are alongside HSE in the 51–100 group in various subject areas in the QS ranking. Today we have economists speaking about their ‘neighbours in the ranking’.

December is one of the two months during the year when students can transfer to HSE from other academic institutions. To facilitate this process, HSE University has introduced an online service for those seeking a transfer.

Every year HSE St. Petersburg offers students from all over the world to participate in its summer schools. Viritpol (Sun) Sunprugksin is one of those who came this summer to our university and shared his impressons.
