In this interview with the HSE Young Scientists project, he explains why he chose to study moderate political parties in Central Asia, discusses the concept of God's sovereignty in lawmaking currently adopted in Afghanistan, and shares his fascination with Sufism.
Magdalena Gaete, Head of the Laboratory for Reputation Management in Education, took part in the international online conference AHIBS Global Research Exchange. The meeting was organised by the University of Technology Malaysia (UTM). At the conference, the researchers discussed the work results of the mirror laboratory of HSE University-St Petersburg and UTM.
Pretty soon, HSE University-St Petersburg will go on the second expedition to the Himalayas organised together with the University of Delhi. This time, researchers will visit the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh which is known for more severe weather conditions at this time of the year. Together with colleagues from the Indian university, they will continue to study how the local communities adapt to ecological and climatic changes, focusing on the sociological aspect of the research.
St Petersburg took the 73rd place in the rating of innovative attractiveness of world cities 'HSE Global Cities Innovation Index 2024' (HSE GCII 2024) prepared by the Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge of HSE University. Six HSE students have returned from the expedition to the Himalayas organised by the St Petersburg School of Social Sciences and the University of Delhi. Together with colleagues from the Indian university, they studied local mountain communities of the western part of the Himalayas. The intermediate result of this trip was three hypotheses about the sustainable development of the region. The international project was the first stage of joint climate change research planned for five years.
Magdalena Gaete, the head of the Project-Based Learning Laboratory for Reputation Management in Education at HSE University-St Petersburg, won the Best Case in Social Entrepreneurship award at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). She presented a study on the transformation of elderly care in Russia, conducted within the framework of the mirror laboratory of HSE University-St Petersburg and UTM. The award was presented to Magdalena Gaete by the Dean of the Azman Hashim International Business School (AHIBS), Professor Dr Rosmini Omar.
The Working Group on Education, Science and Technologies had the first meeting organised by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia. The participants discussed the cooperation formats, including the development of the mirror laboratory of HSE University-St Petersburg and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in the sphere of social entrepreneurship which was officially opened during the HSE International Partners' Days.
From April 26 to May 7, a team of professors and students from HSE University-St Petersburg conducted a field study in the Indian Himalayas.
