On September 17-20, Toulouse hosted the conference EAIE devoted to the internationalisation of higher education. During the meetings, experts from 110 countries discussed the prospects of partnership in the sphere of higher education. HSE University-St Petersburg and key universities in Brazil, Chile, and Mexico agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation. The delegation from HSE University-St Petersburg will visit the higher education institutions in these countries during the academic mission to Latin America planned for the middle of October.

On September 23, in the Russian House in Jakarta, the delegation from HSE University-St Petersburg headed by the director Anna Tyshetskaya introduced Indonesian school students and their parents to the educational programmes at the university and opportunities of studies in Russia.

In early September 2024, Anastasia Usyk, a graduate of the Bachelor’s Programme in Asian and African Studies at HSE University in St Petersburg, participated in the final round of the ‘Chinese Bridge’ International Language Competition in Beijing, where she won the first prize in online voting and received the Audience Award and the Award for Most Outstanding Performance. Pretty soon, HSE University-St Petersburg will go on the second expedition to the Himalayas organised together with the University of Delhi. This time, researchers will visit the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh which is known for more severe weather conditions at this time of the year. Together with colleagues from the Indian university, they will continue to study how the local communities adapt to ecological and climatic changes, focusing on the sociological aspect of the research.

Marina Beliaeva, a fourth-year student of the Bachelor's programme 'Asian and African Studies', spent a whole year at Fudan University. The organisers have announced the results of the International Video Competition 'WOWMOSCOW' held in the framework of the festival and forum 'Territory of the Future. Moscow 2030'. On August 15, the winner was named in the Museum of Cinema at VDNH. The winner became Takha Audyarahma, a student of the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), a partner university of HSE University-St Petersburg.

Annually, HSE University provides students of Asian and African Studies with opportunities to participate in mobility programmes in the countries of studied languages. Long-term academic mobility helps not only upgrade language proficiency but also dive into a completely different culture and understand it from the inside. Tatiana Shlychkova, student of the Department of Chinese, Southeast and South Asian Research, spent her fourth year of studies in Shanghai, having passed the selection to one of the most high-ranking universities in China—the Fudan University. The scholarship covered tuition and accommodation. In addition, Tatiana received a monthly allowance for personal expenses.
