Life Beyond Campus: Trip to Scandinavia With Russian Soul
On the 14th of November, HSE – St Petersburg students visited one of the pearls of Northwest Russia – a small, still instantly picturesque medieval town called Vyborg. Together with the Erasmus Students Network (ESN) team we travelled hundreds of years back in time, saw a real European knight’s castle (yeah, the one with granite walls, a tower, and not built for tourists!), a market square, a town hall, walked narrow cobblestone streets, explored hiking routes and enjoyed a romantic moonlight stroll in the famous English garden Mon Repos.
The Arrival: Performative Lectures in the Liminal Space Between States and Cultures
From December 1 to 17, Dr Margarita Kuleva, head of the Department of Design and Contemporary Art at the Higher School of Economics – St Petersburg will give a series of performative lectures dedicated to changing relations between space, body, and culture in the context of new travel. The project is structured around auto-ethnographic experiences and a historical investigation of 19th-20th century Russian culture in motion. The lectures will be held in the English Channel Tunnel, an aircraft hangar, and Pushkin House in London, with access to live streaming.
Russian Museum of Ethnography to Hold Exhibition of Student Works
The Russian Museum of Ethnography and the HSE Art and Design School St. Petersburg will present an exhibition of works by the school’s students. The HSE OPEN DAYS: Poster, Sign, Book exhibition will run at the museum from September 15–26.
HSE University School of Art and Design in St. Petersburg and ‘Manege’ Open a Joint Exhibition
On August 14, the ‘Thirty Three Characters’ project, which was created by the HSE University School of Art and Design in St. Petersburg in partnerships with the ARKI Creative Workshop, will open at the Manege Central Exhibition Hall in St. Petersburg. The project combines a series of outdoor installations dedicated to the Cyrillic alphabet.
HSE University – St. Petersburg Programmers to Compete in ICPC-2020 Finals
On December 1, Northern Eurasia sports programming championship took place in Saint Petersburg. HSE University – St. Petersburg team was among the best, therefore, it will compete in the ICPC global finals, which will be held in Moscow in June 2020.

place is the ranking held by the HSE University’s English-language website according to a study of university websites conducted by the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC). The rating assessed the websites of 67 universities in Russia.
Adidas Bomber Jacket Patch Design Competition Now Open at HSE
HSE students are invited to participate in a design competition in which a series of three illustrations will be selected. Submissions will be accepted until May 22. The winning patch projects will be set in the form of stripes on adidas bomber jackets. The author of the best work will travel to the head office of adidas in Germany.
Official Poster for the 2018 FIFA World Cup
Supervisor at the School of Design, Associate Professor Igor Gurovich, designed the official poster for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The central figure in his composition in legendary Soviety goalkeeper Lev Yashin.
Protecting Human Rights
Professor Alexander Sungurov was awarded a medal «for the protection of human rights in the Republic of Ingushetia».
University Canteen
Being asked about the advantages of studying at HSE one can definitely name its diversity and international atmosphere. This September the HSE campus in Saint-Petersburg welcomed 50 new exchange students from all over the world. Thomas Murphy, a master exchange student from Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management shared some impressions of his life in Saint-Petersburg.
