You cannot fully enjoy your stay in St Petersburg without going to have a tea or coffee in one of the numerous dedicated places of the city. However, as in any city in the world, St Petersburg has his own original, magical places, where you do not simply have a drink. These places often include anticafés, where the price is not based on your consumption, but on the amount of time you spent on site. Here is a list of these places that you would, beyond any doubt, appreciate spending some time in.

Living in a globalized world, we usually associate fast food with such brands as McDonalds, KFC, and others. However, Russians have their own fast food and cheap places to eat traditional local food. Geoffrey Jouanno, an exchange student at HSE St Petersburg has put together a non-exhaustive list of some of the places that can be found in St Petersburg.

Moving to another country is always a challenge. But when it comes to moving to Russia, this challenge is particularly interesting. Teodora Delcheva, an exchange student from University College London explores eight myths about Russia and how they compare to reality.

December 1 marked World AIDS Day, the purpose of which is to increase global awareness of the disease. Researchers from HSE’s campus in St. Petersburg have spent the last two years studying a movement of individuals called ‘AIDS dissidents,’ or people who deny the existence of AIDS. Peter Meylakhs, Senior Research Fellow with the International Centre for Health Economics, Management, and Policy at HSE St. Petersburg, discusses some of his research results below.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has appointed Maksim Oreshkin as the country’s new Minister of Economic Development. Oreshkin is the former Deputy Minister of Finance and a graduate of the Higher School of Economics.

The exhibition ‘Kochubey Mansion, A House of Gentlefolk (Home of the Gentry) in Tsarskoe Selo’ has opened at the Tsarskoe Selo museum reserve. The exhibition is a joint project between the museum and HSE St. Petersburg, which has its Executive Management Training Center situated at the Kochubey Mansion. HSE's administration decided to open up its collection of rare artwork to everyone interested in Russian history. 

The workshop on 'Health Economics in Russia: past, present and future?' was hosted by the International Centre for Health Economics, Management and Policy (CHEMP) of HSE Saint Petersburg on March 21, 2016 within the International Spatial Development Forum.

In HSE Saint-Petersburg, a lecture on topic of "Urban Transformations" was delivered by the Dutch urbanist, Evert Verhagen. The lecture was held with the support of the Museum of Street Art and the Consulate General of the Netherlands in St. Petersburg.
