
English-Speaking Clubs at HSE University-St Petersburg
The university experience isn’t just about studying and getting a degree. University years are full of opportunities and wonderful impressions, all of which you can experience at HSE University-St Petersburg firsthand. Sometimes it can be hard for international students to find information about certain events or groups due to the language barrier or a lack of experience with Russian social media apps and websites. To help you navigate all the extracurricular activities available on our campus, we decided to highlight some interesting clubs which are happy to welcome international students.

'Who Are They?': HSE Art and Design School Lecturer Andrey Lyublinskiy Launches Exhibition at GUM
On September 9, the GUM-Red-Line Gallery opened the personal exhibition 'Who Are They?' by artist, designer and curator of the HSE University-St Petersburg Art and Design School Andrey Lyublinskiy. The exhibition will last till November 1.

Situation Centre Created at HSE University
On February 25, at the initiative of the Student Council, a Situation Centre was created at HSE University. HSE University – St. Petersburg administration and the Student Council will take part in the joint organisation of the work of the Situation Centre. Psychologists, lawyers, employees of educational offices and other HSE departments will be involved in the work at the Centre.

HSE – St. Petersburg Art and Design School Professor’s Branding Bureau Clinch Creative Communication Award
Andy Martin's ODB branding bureau was among the winners of the Creative Communication Award (C2A) in the print category. Andy Martin is a curator of the Communication Design profile at the HSE – St. Petersburg.

HSE – St. Petersburg School of Design Come Out on Top at the St. Petersburg Young Design Contest
Students of the HSE – St. Petersburg School of Design took part in St. Petersburg Young Design – a contest for young designers and artists. Alexandra Arsentieva clinched first place in the ‘Community’ special project, Ksenia Gernik won second place in the ‘Recycle Sea’ nomination, and another unique project by HSE students was a finalist in the ‘Saint-Petersburg Merchandise’ nomination. The participants also got a chance to learn new things at a unique poster workshop curated for the competition by Mitya Kharshak, Head of the School of Design.

Life Beyond Campus: Trip to Scandinavia With Russian Soul
On the 14th of November, HSE – St Petersburg students visited one of the pearls of Northwest Russia – a small, still instantly picturesque medieval town called Vyborg. Together with the Erasmus Students Network (ESN) team we travelled hundreds of years back in time, saw a real European knight’s castle (yeah, the one with granite walls, a tower, and not built for tourists!), a market square, a town hall, walked narrow cobblestone streets, explored hiking routes and enjoyed a romantic moonlight stroll in the famous English garden Mon Repos.

HSE Students Explore the Canals of St Petersburg and a Cradle of Ancient Russia
In the first weeks of October, HSE international students embarked on two exciting adventures. We gathered together on a boat tour along the picturesque St Petersburg’s canals and made a day trip to explore the medieval architecture of Veliky Novgorod. Here’s a quick recap of the outings.

High Five: Reading List by Yuri Kabanov
The academic year is gradually gaining momentum, and textbooks, along with academic papers, are becoming a part of bedtime reading. If you would like to read something different and useful, read the reading list by Yuri Kabanov, co-head of the programme 'Political Science and World Politics'. There you will find books about statistics and cats, a collection of short stories-assumptions, and others.

HSE University School of Art and Design in St. Petersburg and ‘Manege’ Open a Joint Exhibition
On August 14, the ‘Thirty Three Characters’ project, which was created by the HSE University School of Art and Design in St. Petersburg in partnerships with the ARKI Creative Workshop, will open at the Manege Central Exhibition Hall in St. Petersburg. The project combines a series of outdoor installations dedicated to the Cyrillic alphabet.

However, there are exhibitions, discussions, and performances which you can watch online, so you can enjoy cultural life while staying at home.
