Lots of people know Alexander Sorokin as a Dean of the St Petersburg School of Social Sciences but earlier, he engaged in the history of science and studied the Tomsk physicists. At the moment, he is working at the junction of several areas—anthropology, research on science and technology and environmental history, helps our students to study the local communities in the Indian Himalayas. We discussed with the Candidate of Historical Sciences what it was like to work constantly at the junction of various spheres, go on expeditions and run three marathons in different locations across the globe.

Aleksandra Averyanova graduated from the Bachelor's programme 'International Business and Management' in 2024 but already now, she is working as a coordinator of internal training at the IT company 'ecom.tech'. The graduate started working on her career back at the university—when she joined the Career Centre and then was hired at 'Setters Education'. We talked to Aleksandra about her studies and career path in the sphere of online education.

The editorial staff of HSE University-St Petersburg are looking forward to the new academic year as much as students and professors are. Marina Beliaeva, a fourth-year student of the Bachelor's programme 'Asian and African Studies', spent a whole year at Fudan University. Over this time, she completed language courses, gathered the material for future researches and became a host at student events. The organisers have announced the results of the International Video Competition 'WOWMOSCOW' held in the framework of the festival and forum 'Territory of the Future. Moscow 2030'. On August 15, the winner was named in the Museum of Cinema at VDNH. The winner became Takha Audyarahma, a student of the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), a partner university of HSE University-St Petersburg.

Annually, HSE University provides students of Asian and African Studies with opportunities to participate in mobility programmes in the countries of studied languages. Long-term academic mobility helps not only upgrade language proficiency but also dive into a completely different culture and understand it from the inside. Tatiana Shlychkova, student of the Department of Chinese, Southeast and South Asian Research, spent her fourth year of studies in Shanghai, having passed the selection to one of the most high-ranking universities in China—the Fudan University. The scholarship covered tuition and accommodation. In addition, Tatiana received a monthly allowance for personal expenses.

Danil Hazigaliev completed the first year of studies in the programme 'International Bachelor’s in Business and Economics'. Thanks to extracurricular events, he mastered the profession of photographer, made new friends, and got an award for the best supporting role.
