In 2024, scientists from HSE University-St Petersburg went on two expeditions to the Indian Himalayas. The second trip finished at the beginning of October, and now, the researchers are summing up its results. Maksim Babikov graduated from the programme 'International Business and Management' in 2024. When he was a student, Maksim started actively building his career: he undertook internships in product management and HR spheres and then took an interest in analytics. For a year, the graduate has been working as a risk analyst at 'Alfa-Bank' and continued his education in the Master's programme 'Data Analytics for Business and Economics'. The King Sejong Institute has announced the results of its world competition of Korean-language essays. More than 200 participants competed in the final stage. Among the prize-winners was Elizaveta Grinevich, a 2023 alumna of HSE University-St Petersburg's Department of Korean Studies.

Md Naoshad Jaman Chowdhury, 31, from Dhaka, Bangladesh, obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Finance and an MBA (International Business) from Dhaka University and graduated from the Master’s Programme in Management and Analytics for Business of HSE University in St Petersburg. Now he works as an HR Analyst at Brain Station 23 PLC, a prominent software company in Bangladesh. Naoshad Jaman talked to the HSE News Service about his career path, the skills he acquired during his studies at HSE University, the challenges he faced while learning Russian, and his plans to become an academic—complete with a big cup of coffee and professor jokes.

On September 17-20, Toulouse hosted the conference EAIE devoted to the internationalisation of higher education. During the meetings, experts from 110 countries discussed the prospects of partnership in the sphere of higher education. HSE University-St Petersburg and key universities in Brazil, Chile, and Mexico agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation. The delegation from HSE University-St Petersburg will visit the higher education institutions in these countries during the academic mission to Latin America planned for the middle of October.

Lots of people know Alexander Sorokin as a Dean of the St Petersburg School of Social Sciences but earlier, he engaged in the history of science and studied the Tomsk physicists. At the moment, he is working at the junction of several areas—anthropology, research on science and technology and environmental history, helps our students to study the local communities in the Indian Himalayas. We discussed with the Candidate of Historical Sciences what it was like to work constantly at the junction of various spheres, go on expeditions and run three marathons in different locations across the globe.

Aleksandra Averyanova graduated from the Bachelor's programme 'International Business and Management' in 2024 but already now, she is working as a coordinator of internal training at the IT company 'ecom.tech'. The graduate started working on her career back at the university—when she joined the Career Centre and then was hired at 'Setters Education'. We talked to Aleksandra about her studies and career path in the sphere of online education.

The editorial staff of HSE University-St Petersburg are looking forward to the new academic year as much as students and professors are.
