International Conference on Economics and Culture

On November 10−15, the IV International Conference ‘Cultural and Economic Changes in a Comparative Perspective’ took place in St. Petersburg. Organized by HSE’s Laboratory for Comparative Social Research, the conference has traditionally brought together Russian and foreign scholars working on issues of values, trust, social capital, corruption and inequality in a changing world, as well as the role of religion in political activity and other social issues in Russia and other countries.

Proof that the Internet and Social Media Impact Protests

HSE-St. Petersburg has hosted the Social Media and Social Movements conference, organized by the Laboratory for Internet Studies (LINIS). Over two days, participants from Germany, Sweden, the UK, the Netherlands, Iran and other countries presented reports about the connections between individuals' activity on social media and their offline activity, and on whether social media impact the desire to protest or take part in social movements.

Trust Can Eliminate Corruption

On June 5, research fellows at the HSE Laboratory for Comparative Social Research (LCSR) took part in the 3rd International Conference ‘Business Ethics and National Models of Behavior’, which was held at the Saint Petersburg State University of Economics and Finance.

St.Petersburg Campus of Higher School of Economics is happy to host International Students' Forum "Visions of a Wider Europe" organized in cooperation with the Yeltsin Foundation and NGO "Dialog Europe Russia". The forum is dedicated to the 20th Anniversary of Russia - WTO negotiations about Russia's accession to the organization and upcoming accedence of our country to OECD. HSE Sociologists in Europe

The conference ESA 2013 – Crisis, Critique and Change took place in Turin, in Italy at the end of August 2013. It was organized jointly by the ESA and the Turin University Department of Culture, Politics and Society. Three papers from the Laboratory for Sociology Education and Science at HSE Saint Petersburg Campus were presented at the conference.
