The Laboratory for Comparative Social Research at the HSE Saint Petersburg opened the 2013 Fall seminar series today. Andrey Shcherbak, senior research fellow at LCSR presented a report on 'Soviet Nationalism in the Historical and Comparative Perspective'. He gave a short description of the major findings of his report to the HSE news service.
The Third LCSR International Workshop is being held in Saint Petersburg from April 26–30, 2013. Marcel Das, Director of CentERdata since 2000, and Professor of Econometrics and Data Collection at Tilburg University, talked to the HSE News Portal beforehand about the topic he would present to the workshop; Innovation in Online Data Collection for Scientific Research.
On April 22 2013, the Higher School of Economics hosted an international workshop conference entitled 'The Development Outlook for Russia and Germany as Members of the WTO'. Alexander Khodachek, the president of Saint-Petersburg HSE campus commented on the conference.
Two new working papers have recently been published by the HSE Sociology of Education and Science Laboratory. They were published as part of the "Education" series of the Basic Research Program.
On March 7, 2013, Grigory Tarasevich, science department editor at the Russian Reporter magazine, delivered a report on ‘“British sociologists have found...” or the problem of cooperation of social sciences with the press’ at the HSE Laboratory for Comparative Social Research.
The Third International Sociological Conference ‘Following Grushin’ was held in Moscow on February 28 - March 1, 2013. At this event NGO ‘Eurasian Monitor’ and the HSE Laboratory for Comparative Social Research organized a joint session ‘General and Special. Similarities and Differences of Social Attitudes in the Post-socialist World’.

‘Economics and Geography’ was the topic of the 12th Annual Conference of the series of Leontief Readings which took place from February 15-16, 2013, at the Leontief Centre with the support of the Saint Petersburg government. Theoreticians and empirical researchers looked for answers related to the spatial development of cities, regional inequality and transport.
