Inequality and diversity among youth: risks and stigmatizations
The discussion of diversity and equality is hardly possible without touching upon these issues in the framework of diverse social groups. During IDC 2020 one of the panels is dedicated to youth studies – how these notions are present in the culture and environment of the younger generation. Yana Krupets – one of the moderators of the panel, the deputy director of the Center for Youth Studies at HSE St. Petersburg, and an associate professor at the Department of sociology shared the complexity and sensitivity of this field of research and plans for the Conference.

International Conference on Inequality and Diversity: Governance of migration and integration beyond conventional approaches
The International Conference on Inequality and Diversity will bring together a group of scholars of migration governance for a roundtable discussion. Oleg Korneev, Associate Professor at the Department of Political Science and International Relations at the Higher School of Economics (Saint Petersburg) and the Academic Supervisor of the Master's Programme «Comparative Politics of Eurasia», who has initiated this roundtable, shares his views on complexity of the topic, his expectations from the discussion and gives a sneak peek on what to expect from the participants and the session.

At the end of October, the Metaprogramme 'Skills4Future' will launch at HSE University - St Petersburg. The second St. Petersburg International Conference on Inequality and Diversity (IDC 2020) will take place from 5 to 7 November 2020 at the HSE – St. Petersburg. It will be held completely online and will bring together experts from different countries and subject areas. We asked Andrey Starodubtsev, Dean of St. Petersburg School of Social Sciences and Area Studies at HSE, about the program of the Conference, about interdisciplinarity in the social sciences and the benefits of a new conference format.
Daniel Alexandrov on why projects are important for students’ development
In the 2019/2020 school year, 13 projects were organized by Sociology in Education and Science Laboratory staff and associates, in which 133 students took part. We cannot emphasize enough that Lab is both scientific and educational, so including students in scientific work is a important focus for us.

HSE St. Petersburg Organises Free Vaccination against Flu for Students
HSE University - Saint Petersburg organizes free vaccination for students which will take place from September 14 to October 27. According to Rospotrebnadzor (The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing), Russia is expecting simultaneous circulation of four strains of the flu virus and a new coronavirus wave. This increases the risks to the population health, so preventive immunization is a needed solution.
