As a student who has studied for a year at another university, I can talk about HSE in comparison and see its' most bright and positive differences from the other universities. First of all, every lecturer is open for communication and ready to help, prompt and even spend personal time on communication with the students. Almost every teacher does scientific research, showing students by his or her own example how interesting and fascinating it is. In addition, here is a rather progressive and unusual for Russian universities approach to the organization of studies. It helps students to be constantly involved in the learning process. And what is the most important from my view, lots of students here have a fire in their eyes and a desire to actively move through life, perhaps, that is why I am here.

After finishing school, I was really confident about my willingness to study at HSE University, however, I still had a lot of doubts considering the choice of an educational program. I wanted my future studying to provide me the capabilities to develop in different spheres or even at the intersection of programming, exact and social sciences. Studying here lived up all my expectations. Great professors always motivate students to study, while the existing laboratories give the opportunities to participate in the genuine studies, where I have already learnt a lot of interesting methods of data analysis and theoretical approaches applicable in modern science. I hope that this complex knowledge will help me to continue education and get master’s degree in the future.

After a high school I decided in favour of diverse educational path and despite numerous achievements in Biology and Chemistry, I secured a place at Higher School of Economics, Department of Sociology. Frankly speaking, this choice was made almost at random. Luckily, in the long run I understood that I hardly can find better place to study in Russia. HSE invests an incredible amount of time and resources to research activities of students. It might seem unreal but this university in general and my department as an outstanding case trusts in students since the freshmen year. That is exactly the reason why I have an opportunity to present my projects at international conferences and impress other participants by the fact that I haven’t received even BA degree yet.
