Mirror Laboratory of HSE University-St Petersburg and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Is Presented at Meeting of Working Group on Education, Science and Technologies
The Working Group on Education, Science and Technologies had the first meeting organised by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia. The participants discussed the cooperation formats, including the development of the mirror laboratory of HSE University-St Petersburg and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in the sphere of social entrepreneurship which was officially opened during the HSE International Partners' Days.
'Joint Background in Political Science and Anthropology Turned Out to Be Invaluably Useful in Studying the Region'
From April 26 to May 7, a team of professors and students from HSE University-St Petersburg conducted a field study in the Indian Himalayas. Neural Networks of Power: AI Unravels Knots and Tangles in Relationships between Humans, Elves and Hobbits
One of the most popular writers of the last century, John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, was born on January 3rd. Researchers from HSE University, AIRI and MISSIS have used machine learning to explore the social connections between the characters of his Middle-earth universe. The algorithm managed to create an accurate picture of the social structures and dynamics of the characters' relationships, providing a unique map of interactions in the epic world. The results of the work were published in IEEE Xplore.
Scientists from HSE University-St Petersburg Receive Award at International Conference in Morocco
A report by researchers from the Strategic Entrepreneurship Centre received an award at the international conference AIB-MENA (Academy of International Business—Middle-East North Africa) in Morocco. The authors of the work were Galina Shirokova and Aleksandra Zakharova.

The School of Arts and Humanities opened the Laboratory of Critical Theory of Culture. There, the researchers will engage in the development of new theory of culture in the fast-paced modern world. Moving to a new city often leads to temporary loneliness and a loss of familiar surroundings. This means that young people who move to a new place must find ways to adapt quickly. Can loneliness become a resourceful state, or does it suppress resourcefulness? Sociologists from HSE University-St Petersburg and Kazan Federal University (KFU) discussed this issue during the seminar 'SOC Up', which was based on research conducted as part of the Mirror Laboratory initiative.
Three Researchers of HSE University-St Petersburg Took Part in Preparing Special Issue of Central Asian Survey
The special issue of the international interdisciplinary journal Central Asian Survey has been published. It was co-edited by Oleg Korneev, Associate Professor at the Department of Political Science and International Affairs, mentor of one of the educational tracks in the Master's programme 'Comparative Politics of Eurasia'. The issue is devoted to the relations between the European Union and Central Asian countries. It features articles by three lecturers of HSE University-St Petersburg.
