The Centre for Youth Studies’ long-term and productive cooperation with the University of Glasgow and the Centre for East European and Russian Studies is still underway. At an annual research forum the university hosted in Glasgow, six researchers from HSE’s Centre for Youth Studies presented papers at a separate panel devoted exclusively to the Centre’s work.

Age display and intergenerational memory: Conference in Copenhagen
Elena Omelchenko and Jana Krupets made presentations at the conference, organized by the "Youth Studies" magazine, one of the leading printed editions in the field of youth research. The conference was held from March 31 to April 1 in the capital of Denmark - Copenhagen.

What gender dispositions are usually appear in the space of women's prison? What resources women prisoners use to defend their dignity, to develop sincerity and trust in a system of disciplinary humiliation? How do women’s networks of support for their imprisoned relatives form? These and other questions were addressed in the presentation Elena Omelchenko and Guzel Sabirova dedicated to the publishing of the second volume of the book: Close to prison: identity and everyday life of imprisoned relatives. Youth and violence in the (big) City.
Centre for Youth Studies has opened a new season of "Scientific Environment" at the St. Petersburg State University Department of Sociology with “hammer” reports provided by Jana Krupets and Nadya Nartova: "Age in work": Constructing of age by girls and young women in contemporary Russia", and Elvira Arif’s - " Girls security in the city: an analysis of the self-defense normalization in girls fights". The room was packed for the presentation of our colleagues.
"The border as a social paradise and a dead end" in the report of Guzel Sabirova
A member of the Centre for Youth Studies Guzel Sabirova presented her work: "The city at the border. Geographic distance as a social paradise and dead end: stories about the history of space in post-Soviet Kyrgyzstan" at an international seminar on the Eurasian borders in Istanbul.
Konstantin Galkin: I always liked to be a sociologist
Student of a second year in Sociology department Master’s program Konstantin Galkin begins the New Year with two important events. First, he got the first place in the students ranking at the end of the last semester (applause and congratulations !!!), and, secondly, the dark and mysterious path of scientific interests led him to the Center for Youth Studies HSE.
