Centre for Youth Studies has opened a new season of "Scientific Environment" at the St. Petersburg State University Department of Sociology with “hammer” reports provided by Jana Krupets and Nadya Nartova: "Age in work": Constructing of age by girls and young women in contemporary Russia", and Elvira Arif’s - " Girls security in the city: an analysis of the self-defense normalization in girls fights". The room was packed for the presentation of our colleagues.

A member of the Centre for Youth Studies Guzel Sabirova presented her work: "The city at the border. Geographic distance as a social paradise and dead end: stories about the history of space in post-Soviet Kyrgyzstan" at an international seminar on the Eurasian borders in Istanbul.

Konstantin Galkin: I always liked to be a sociologist
Student of a second year in Sociology department Master’s program Konstantin Galkin begins the New Year with two important events. First, he got the first place in the students ranking at the end of the last semester (applause and congratulations !!!), and, secondly, the dark and mysterious path of scientific interests led him to the Center for Youth Studies HSE.

IV International Congress of Belorussian Studies with our collegue Nadya Nartova.
Recently (3-5 of October), in Kaunas the 4th Congress of Belarusian Studies been held. It was transferred to Lithuania from the outset for political reasons, and since then developed in Kaunas. Our colleague, Nadia Nartova for second time went there with a report on the new project, which she oversees the CYS - "Age at work: construction of age by girls and young women". Nadia appeared in the 15th section of the Congress - "Gender Rules: discourses, policies and practices" in the panel 15.3 - Body and Sexuality: between biopolitics and discipline.
