HSE University − St Petersburg to Host the International Economics Olympiad
On July 24-July 31, the second annual International Economics Olympiad (IEO) for high school students will be held in St. Petersburg. The IEO is organized and hosted by HSE University with the support of Sberbank.
Team From Estonia Wins Grand Prix at HSE FEST
On June 24-28, HSE University – St Petersburg hosted the International University Startups & Spin-Offs Festival (HSE Fest). Young entrepreneurs from Tallinn University of Technology received the first prize of 10,000 USD for further development of their startup project, Timey. The startup company produces small-scale chemical indicators showing whether food products are stored and transported at the right temperature.
HSE University Improves its Position in QS World Rankings
HSE University has improved its position in the QS institutional ranking by 21 places this year, taking 7th place among Russian universities. The advancement comes thanks to a significant improvement in academic reputation and assessment of university graduates by employers.
HSE Joins Two THE Subject Rankings - in Computer Science and Engineering & Technology
For the first time ever, HSE University has entered two THE subject rankings: in Computer Science (in the 301–400 group)and Engineering & Technology (in the 601-800 group). Therefore, HSE has confirmed once again that it is much more than just a specialized social sciences and humanities university, but rather a comprehensive multidisciplinary university, which has become successful in new, innovative areas of natural sciences and engineering.
HSE Ranks 23rd in QS EECA Rankings
For the second year in a row, the Higher School of Economics has improved its position in the QS EECA Rankings, placing 23rd among universities from emerging European and Central Asian countries.
HSE Alumnus Appointed Minister of Digital Development
Konstantin Noskov, who received his Master’s degree from HSE University in 2001, will head the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media. He is the second HSE alumnus to join the Russian government: Maxim Oreshkin will continue to lead the Ministry of Economic Development.

HSE Joins Top-300 of QS Graduate Employability Rankings
Higher School of Economics (HSE) has entered the 251-300 group of the QS Graduate Employability Rankings, which aim to reflect the relationship between a university’s activities and subsequent graduate employment. HSE took first place among Project 5-100’s participants and fourth place among 11 Russian universities, thus improving upon last year’s result.
