HSE Alumnus Appointed Minister of Digital Development

Konstantin Noskov, who received his Master’s degree from HSE University in 2001, will head the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media. He is the second HSE alumnus to join the Russian government: Maxim Oreshkin will continue to lead the Ministry of Economic Development.

HSE Joins Top-300 of QS Gradua­te Employability Rankings

Higher School of Economics (HSE) has entered the 251-300 group of the QS Graduate Employability Rankings, which aim to reflect the relationship between a university’s activities and subsequent graduate employment. HSE took first place among Project 5-100’s participants and fourth place among 11 Russian universities, thus improving upon last year’s result.

Complex Networks at the School of Economics and Management

This spring, a group of academics and students of the School of Economics and Management at HSE St. Petersburg, headed by Professor Vladimir Matveenko, received a grant from the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR). The outcome of their effort: scientific reports prepared by Economics students in the fourth year Maxim Bakhtin and in the third year Yulia Skoblova were selected to participate in the Second International Workshop "Networks, Complexity, and Economic Development" conducted by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. In a month, Maxim and Yulia will visit Budapest to present their work.

HSE Campuses in Moscow and St. Petersburg Admitted to QTEM

On March 10, 2017, the HSE campuses in Moscow and St. Petersburg were admitted to QTEM, an international network of the world’s leading business schools. This means that every year the 20 best management and finance MA students from both campuses will benefit from a range of network member opportunities, and after they graduate from their programme at their home university, will receive a prestigious QTEM graduate certificate.

HSE Enters 13 QS Subject Rankings

The Higher School of Economics has made it onto 13 subject and two broader subject rankings in the QS World University Ranking thanks to the university’s achievements as part of the 5-100 Project. In addition, HSE was in the top 100 ranking for three areas – Economics and Econometrics, Politics and International Studies, and Sociology – and it was the only Russian school in the Accounting & Finance 101-150 ranking. As for total number of subject area rankings, HSE was third in Russia after only Moscow State University and St. Petersburg State University.

International Student Research Conference 2017

On February 2-3, 2017 the Higher School of Economics in St. Petersburg hosted the International Student Research Conference. The campus became a meeting point for young researchers and professors from Belarus, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Norway, Portugal, Russia, the UK,and Ukraine.  For two days, participants attended lectures delivered by keynote speakers, presented posters and discussed issues of social informatics, applied data analysis, regional planning and development, sustainable tourism and development, modern Asia, finance, economic growth, logistics, usable pasts and political science. Sessions covered a wide variety of research interests.
