HSE University — Saint Petersburg and UCL Open a New Master's Programme
In the new joint master's programme 'Comparative Russian and Eurasian Politics', which will begin accepting applications in 2021, students will divide their time betwee University College London and HSE University - Saint Petersburg. Upon graduation, students will earn a double degree awarded by both universities. The programme is of interest of those who want to study politics in Russia and the post-Soviet region and gain a deeper knowledge of the area that will equip them for region-related careers or further study at the doctoral level.
HSE University Climbs Shanghai Ranking
HSE University has advanced to the 801-900 group in the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), also known as the Shanghai Ranking and now ranks in the 7th-8th place among Russian universities. Moreover, HSE University is the only Russian university to improve its standing in the ranking this year.

The Russian Ministry of Education and Science has announced the results of a grant competition for big research projects. One of the winners is a project with HSE University participation: the creation of a next generation computational linguistic platform to digitally record the Russian language.

This event will take place from September to December 2020 and will be held entirely online. First Cohort Graduates from Double Degree Programme with Pompeu Fabra University
This year, four graduates of the 'Economics' programme earned their degrees in the double degree programme track between HSE University - Saint Petersburg and Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), Barcelona. Both universities evaluated the students' work as excellent. Three programme graduates received particular recognition from UPF.

HSE University took 298th place in the 2021 QS World University Rankings, improving its ranking by 24 positions compared to last year and entering the first quartile of the world’s leading universities. HSE University now ranks among the world’s top 300 universities in two international rankings: the Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings and the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
HSE — St. Petersburg's Programmers Are among the Best in Google Hash Code Competition
The final of the Google Hash Code programming competition was held in late April. HSE — Saint Petersburg student were on board of teams which took 6th and 12th places. More than 10 000 teams from every corner of the world took part in the competition.
