Professor Aleksey A. Maslov, a well-known sinologist and director of the Institute for Far Eastern Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, heads the Academic Council of the master’s programme ‘Business and Politics in Modern Asia’. The agreement on the development of a double degree programme between the HSE master's programme 'Business and Politics in Modern Asia' and the University of Ca’ Foscari Master's programme in 'Language and Management in China' is successfully signed.
In the new joint master's programme 'Comparative Russian and Eurasian Politics', which will begin accepting applications in 2021, students will divide their time betwee University College London and HSE University - Saint Petersburg. Upon graduation, students will earn a double degree awarded by both universities. The programme is of interest of those who want to study politics in Russia and the post-Soviet region and gain a deeper knowledge of the area that will equip them for region-related careers or further study at the doctoral level.
Many of them who join the master’s programme want to develop their research skills. This master’s programme is the important stage for them to pursue postgraduate and doctoral studies. Qualitative methodological training and an opportunity to participate in international scientific projects become the priority. The academic track “Theory and Methodology of Modern Political Science” is opened especially for those students in the comparative politics of Eurasia MA programme.
