On October 3-5, the International Youth Center of the RUDN University held Young Political Scientists' Competition and Workshop “Russia - Non-Western World”, in which took part 6 students of the MA Programme “International Business in the APR”:  Ksenia Shanina, Enowmanyi Samuel, Elizaveta Sherstobitova, Viktoria Frolovskaya, Alina Stephanenko and Dzato Rudolf.

Workshop brought together young scholars, researchers, and experts in the field of political science from over 15 countries: Russia, Cameroon, Ghana, Serbia, Zambia, India, Oman, Brazil, Algeria, Iraq, Pakistan, Belarus, just to mention a few. The workshop aimed to examine and analyze the evolving dynamics between Russia and the Non-Western World (multipolar world), focusing on political, economic, and cultural interactions. The sessions covered a range of topics, including Russia's foreign policy, its engagement with Non-Western nations (Africa, Asia, Southern American countries), regional dynamics, and the implications for global politics. Prominent scholars, policymakers, and practitioners delivered presentations, encouraging critical discussions among participants.

«This workshop aligned perfectly with our academic goals and research interests. It provided us with an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the geopolitical landscape and to explore the complexities of Russia's interaction with the Non-Western World. The workshop's focus resonated with our research on global power shifts and the role of emerging powers in international relations. The seminars gave us a better understanding on research mechanisms and data base analysis

During the workshop, we gained valuable insights into various aspects of Russia's engagement with the Non-Western World. The presentations and discussions shed light on the factors influencing Russia's foreign policy decisions, the implications of its partnerships with Non-Western countries, and the challenges and opportunities it encounters in these relationships. Notably, we learned about the role of cultural diplomacy, economic cooperation, and military collaborations in shaping Russia's strategic outreach, not to forget the business environment in particular

Attending this workshop has expanded our knowledge of non-Western perspectives on international relations, business and deepened our understanding of Russia's foreign policy dynamics. The interactions with fellow participants, renowned experts, and organizers have exposed us to diverse viewpoints, stimulating intellectual discussions and encouraging new approaches in our research».

The Young Political Scientists' Competition and Workshop "Russia - Non-Western World" provided an excellent platform for academic exchange and exploration of contemporary political dynamics. Students were able not only to learn a lot of new and useful information, but also had the opportunity to exchange (through discussions) and network with participants and professionals from other universities and countries. At a time when we are witnessing the rise of regional powers and their influence on global politics, understanding the role of Russia as a major non-Western player seems important and necessary not only for political scientists, but also for those who study international business.
