Exploring Russia: A Multidisciplinary View
July 7 – 18
In-person
Language: English
This course is an introduction to the Russian Studies. It offers a multidisciplinary view on the country, encompassing its history and cultural development, as well as the trends of its media, business and political development.
The famous Russian poet and diplomat Fyodor Tyutchev wrote in the middle of the 19th century: 'Russia cannot be understood with the mind or measured with a standard yardstick. She has a peculiar character, one can only believe in Russia'. But even in the 21st century Russia remains for many a mysterious country, covered by myths and stereotypes. The goal of our course is to bring Russia out of the fog of mystery. The students will be given the keys to understanding Russian history, literature, economics, politics and the media landscape, which will enable them to work more successfully with Russian partners in different areas. We don’t promise that you will believe in Russia, but you will definitely learn to understand it better.
