Student Feedback

The first thing you notice about the Russian people is that they're very open. We have student buddies. They came to pick us up at the airport, gave us all the information. We were never lost and we always had someone to talk to, someone who could comfort us and help with everything

Oliver Tomassi, University of Rome Tor Vergata (Italy)

Participant of the course 'Modern Russia: Language and Culture (Summer School 2018)

I must say the schedule was perfectly balanced: on the one hand it permitted a deep study of the subject of the courses, and on the other hand, it granted us plenty of time to discover the city on our own as well as through the cultural and social activities organized by our Russian buddies. Indeed, this programme allowed me to gain more knowledge in the academic field, by learning more about Russian politics and the Russian language, but it also taught me to go out of my comfort zone; Russia – and mostly Saint Petersburg – is full of opportunities to seize, and even though the cultural differences can sometimes be quite tough to overcome, this is always rewarding

Mathilde Garnier, Lille Catholic University (France)

Participant  of the courses 'EU-Russia Relation Today' and 'Modern Russia: Language and Culture' (Summer School 2018)

I joined the programme because I wanted to visit Russia, and see the difference between Moskow, Saint Petersburg and cities in Siberia. I wanted to explore the city, meet new people and experience typical Russian food, culture, literature and of course learn Russian. Overall, I had a really great time during the Summer School. The Russian language course was very effective, challenging and also fun!

Tim Burkhardt, Friedberg Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (Germany)

Participant of the courses 'Modern Russia: Language and Culture' and 'BRICS in Global Economy' (Summer School 2018)

I really like Saint Petersburg as a whole. It is such a great city, we only discovered a small part of it. I really like the metro stations and public transports because getting around town with the bus or the metro works quite well. There are a lot of beautiful sights and rivers

Maximilian Schmidt, International School of Management (Germany)

Participant of the courses 'International Business: Challenges' and 'Perspectives in a Turbulent World' (Summer School 2018)

I am a first-year student of International Business and Management at HSE. I really like the style of teaching here, and I have chosen this university because of its liberal spirit. It was an excellent opportunity to study along with international students during the Summer School and to listen to their points of view

Anastasia Murach, HSE University – St. Petersburg (Russia)

Participant  of the courses 'Python for Social Science: Introduction to Programming Language' and 'International Business: Challenges and Perspectives in a Turbulent World' (Summer School 2018)

Being able to meet peers who are the same age as me in other programs was quite refreshing to say the least. The BRICS program greatly broadened my understanding of the world through interacting with these young and talented people. I genuinely enjoyed the synergy

Viritpol (Sun) Sunprugksin, University of Massachusetts Amherst (USA)

Participant of BRICS Global Business and Innovations Summer School, 2017

I think my Russian improved immensely while I was in St. Petersburg, not just because of the classes but also because of the abundance of opportunities to practice on a day to day basis

Rayanne Fujimoto, University of Massachusetts (USA)

Participant of Russian Language and Culture Programme, 2017

I highly recommend HSE to any prospective international students. Saint Petersburg is one-of-a-kind, and the quality of the academics here is on par with those found at my home university. My only regret? That I cannot stay here longer

James Tripaldi, Amherst College (USA)

Participant of Russian Language and Culture Programme, 2017
