Guest lecture from the partner of one of the largest audit companies in Russia Technologies of Trust (TeDo): “Interesting facts about the work in the Big four”

Guest lecture of one of the largest auditors in Russia – the company Technologies of Trust (TeDo) presented by the partner Alexey Kulikov took place in High school of economics in Saint-Petersburg at 16^th of October as part of the International financial reporting standards course. Audit experience of Alexey includes more than 18 years, more than 20 completed engagements, more than 1000 team members. TeDo executes services to more than 400 clients, includes general and tax audit, risk assessment and sustainability reporting.

Students learned the audit process steps, who is included in the audit team, how long does the audit go, what is materiality and why it is important, what procedures are executed for checking and why analytics is of a high importance, and also how to calculate amount of the salmon fishes in the sea on the balance of a company during a stock take, why and how many football matches should you watchin order to evaluate the fair value and impairment of the football players and how to manipulate, but which is more important to discover a big fraudulent part of revenue.

One of the key issues of the meeting was about the core of the audit, which is not only about debit, credit and documents, but more about a wide view on business, world, politics, economics and people. We appreciate that Alexey presented a condensed informative description of the Big four audit process, interesting facts, that helped to dive into a diverse practical experience of the big audit.
