HSE University St. Petersburg Welcomes the Delegation from National Economics University (Vietnam)
On July 3, HSE University in St. Petersburg hosted honoured representatives from National Economics University (NEU) at its campus. The meeting was intended on enhancing international cooperation between two universities in different spheres.
Despite the fact that the names of both university refer to Economics, HSE University and NEU have a wide range of programmes in other fields of study.
‘We are trying to be a prestigious center for economic research, but we pay attention not only to Economics but also to related fields’ noted Mr Tran Tho Dat.
Taking into account that two universities have similarprogrammes in such fields as Economics, Finance, and Management, both sides appreciated the opportunity to deepen and widen cooperation in educational sphere.
Ms. Nina Grigorieva, associate Professor of the Department of Asian and African Studies, speaking in Vietnamese, expressed her hope for further cooperation, including language mobility programmes for the students who study Vietnamese at HSE University St. Petersburg. She also admitted that the students would be also interested to study Hospitality Management and National Economics at NEU.
Scientific research is another promising field for cooperation between two universities. There is a great interest in the development of research using Data Mining and Big Data at both universities. Recently, HSE University St. Petersburg has opened a new School of Physics, Mathematics and Computer Sciences to become an important centre of competence in Data Analytics and Machine Learning.
Mr. Angel Barajas, Head of the Department of Finance at HSE University St. Petersburg, and academic supervisor of the new Master’s programme 'Management and Analytics for Business' invited colleagues from NEU to take part at the Analytics for Management and Economics Conference in September to continue the constructive dialogue.
First acquaintance of HSE University and NEU happened in 2016, when a delegation from HSE visited Vietnam. As a successful result of the negotiations, since then HSE became of the Russian universities, which Vietnam citizens can apply to at Rossotrusnichestvo branch in Hanoi.
Earlier this week, HSE University and NEU have signed the memorandum of understanding in Moscow.
National Economics University was established in 1956.
Currently, the university is one of the strongest universities in Vietnam in such fields as Economics, Public Management, and Business Administration.
Annually, NEU offers training to nearly 45,000 students at Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD levels.
