On September 27, Justice Albert "Albie" Sachs Gave a Public Lecture
On September 27, renowned human rights activist and South Africa Constitutional Court Justice (1994 – 2009) Albie Sachs delivered a public lecture titled “Forging a Constitution for the New South Africa: from Racism to Equal Rights for All” at the HSE St Petersburg. The lecture was organized by the Center for Historical Research and the School of Law, HSE St Petersburg, in collaboration with the Fund for Support of Liberal Education and the Center for Study of Civil Society and Human Rights.

On September, 1 Tatiana Borisova, Associate Professor at the Department of History and Senior Research Fellow at the Laboratory for Environmental and Technological History, presented her paper “The legalism of Russian revolutionaries: A continuity in the Russian legal tradition” at the Fifth European Congress on World and Global History in Budapest.
New Partnership of the Center for Historical Research
July, 2017 Center for Historical Research has joined the European Information and Research Network on Parliament History. The Center for Historical Research is the only research organization from Russia among the network members.
BA Students Join a Field Trip to Germany
Students of the BA programme in History at the Higher School of Economics in St. Petersburg together with the professors of the Department of History went on a field trip to Germany. Students together with Alexander Semyonov, Anton Kotenko and Dietmar Wulff visited Bonn University, Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg, and University of Leipzig. The field trip was supported by the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service). The theme of the trip was 'The Empire in a Global History'.
Partnership between University of Michigan and HSE St Petersburg
The Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies (CREES) is pleased to announce that on May 26, 2017, the Regents of the University of Michigan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on its behalf with the National Research University Higher School of Economics, St. Petersburg (HSE). The purpose of the MOU is to promote cooperation in history, sociology, political science, anthropology, and other social sciences and humanities units involved in academic research between CREES and the HSE Center for Historical Research.
Elena Kochetkova has successfully defended her PhD in history
On May 27 Elena Kochetkova, senior lecturer of the department of history and research fellow of the Laboratory for Environmental and Techological History, Center for Historical Research has defended successfully her Phd thesis "The Soviet Forestry Industry in the 1950s and 1960s : A Project of Modernization and Technology Transfer from Finland". The defense took place at the faculty of social sciences of the University of Helsinki.
