Know our People Contest

On November 18th, 2017 a significant event took place: first-year students of seven educational programs have gathered together for the annual event "Know Our People", organized for the purpose of acquaintance of students of different directions with each other. For participation in this contest each program has prepared 3 tasks: an unusual collective picture, a music clip, and a small scene. The motto of the event was the phrase “Everyone needs friends!”

It should be noted that this year "Know Our People" has acquired a significant scale. In addition to such programs as "Sociology and Social Informatics", "Oriental Studies", "Philology", "History", "Political Science" and "Public Policy and Analytics", the «Faculty of law» also joined the event. A large number of fans gathered in the hall to support their group mates. The hosts of the contest have set the mood to all evening, portraying themselves as the heroes of the popular TV serial "Friends", and the performances of the participants of the studio "HSE Vocal" pleased the students with excellent music.

For the first task - an unusual photo - sociologists chose the famous painting "The Last Day of Pompeii" by Karl Bryullov and made their version of this masterpiece - "The Last Day of Deadline". In the collective photo they managed not only to get used to the characters of the picture, but also captured the famous building on Sedova Street.
For a music video, sociologists recorded their own song, in which they also mentioned their campus and its famous inhabitants - two dogs. Self-irony of the students was not unnoticed, other educational programs` student liked the video too.

The main performance sociologists prepared in the style of communism, playing the scene of the "Higher School of the planned economics", where they presented the process of making a project. Their subtle humor was warmly received by both spectators and jury members who gave them a stormy ovation.

In intense struggle, despite the strongest competition and high level of the event, the team of the first-year students of the educational program "Sociology and Social Informatics" won the 1st place. All the judges highly appreciated the actor's abilities and the level of creativity of the youth. We congratulate students on their well-deserved victory and wish them good luck in all future undertakings! We are proud of you!
