Guest lecture by A.L. Vyalkov, Vice-President of Bank Saint-Petersburg: Management in a Commercial Bank
The speaker analysed in detail the key aspects of bank management, including decision-making structure, interaction of departments and strategic planning. Special attention was paid to the model of business processes, which determines the efficiency of the bank, as well as mechanisms of adaptation to modern economic conditions.
Alexander Leonidovich presented an analysis of the organisational structure of a commercial bank and explained how management decisions are formed at various levels. He also spoke about the functioning of corporate and retail business, mechanisms of interaction with clients and strategies for attracting new clients. The speaker emphasised the role of committees managing business processes and their impact on the achievement of key performance indicators.

One of the most discussed issues was the bank's development strategy in the current environment, including the impact of sanctions on the Russian banking sector. The speaker spoke about the mechanisms of sanctions pressure, steps to normalise business processes and government support measures. The discussion also touched upon capital management, credit and deposit policy and digitalisation of banking activities.
The final stage of the lecture was a discussion of the cashback system as a tool for increasing customer loyalty. Students actively participated in the discussion, asking questions about how banks form cashback categories and what benefits they get from such programmes.
