HSE Among Top 5% of Universities in QS EECA Ranking
HSE University now ranks 16th and places among the top 5% of universities in emerging Europe and Central Asia in the QS EECA University Rankings released by the British ranking agency QS.
HSE University has significantly improved its performance in reputation indicators, which account for half of the ranking criteria. The University improved its performance in the categories of ‘academic reputation’ and ‘employer reputation’ by 5% compared to last year. In compiling the ranking, the rating agency surveyed 102,500 representatives of the academic community and 52,000 representatives of employers.
Every year, more and more Russian universities are represented in the regional QS EECA ranking: this year the ranking includes 121 Russian universities, which account for almost a third of the list’s top-ranked universities—a 16% increase from last year. For the past three years, all universities participating in Russia’s Academic Excellence Project 5-100, have been represented in the ranking. In total, 19 Russian universities are included in the top 100 best universities according to the QS EECA.
The QS EECA Regional Ranking was first published in 2014 and ranked 100 universities. In six years, the number of ranked universities has quadrupled. The leaders of the ranking are traditionally classical universities of Russia, Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, and Turkey.
The ranking evaluates universities in accordance with 10 indicators: academic reputation over 5 years (30%), employer reputation over 5 years (20%), number of articles published in Scopus per faculty member (10%), number of citations per paper (5%), breadth of international research partnerships (10%), web impact (5%), student-teacher ratio (10%), share of faculty who hold a PhD (5%), share of international students (2.5%) ), and share of international faculty (2.5%).
