HSE University – St Petersburg and UPF Launch a Double Degree in Economics

HSE University – St Petersburg and University Pompeu Fabra (UPF) have signed an agreement in order to develop a double degree programme. Starting from the 2019/2020 academic year, this track will allow students to earn bachelor's degrees in Economics from both universities.

The agreement is considered as a great success of the mutual сooperation. UPF is one of the best European universities in the field of Economics and Econometrics, according to the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2018 (the university is ranked #38). 

The bachelor’s programme in Economics at UPF contains such courses as Financial Economics, Economic Institutions and Markets, Game Theory and Design of Institutions, Markets and Derivatives, Management for Health Institutions and others. They are taught by eminent economists, for example, Andreu Mas-Colel, Fernando Broner, and Andrea Caggese.

HSE students will have an opportunity to spent a year in Barcelona and obtain a bachelor’s degree in Economics from UPF, while the best students from UPF will come to St Petersburg to benefit from studying the bachelor's programme in Economics at HSE University. 

The call for applications among HSE third-year students begins this autumn. The selection criteria take into consideration GPA, motivation, research activity, high level of English proficiency and others.
