Business game "The Power of Finance" - choosing a career track

On November 17, 2023, a business game "The Power of Finance" was hosted for 1st year students of the “Finance” programme implemented at the Saint Petersburg School of Economics and Management. The game allowed students, who chose finance as a career track, to dive deeper into different types of financial functions, functioning of companies and financial products.

The authors of the game, Evgenia Korekhova, career consultant, head of K³ Consulting, and Iya Churakova, associate professor of the Department of Finance, PhD in Economics, offered the students an opportunity to think about the financial health of an organisation in different areas of finance.

The main methodological goal of this business game was a deep dive into different types of financial functions, companies and products. During the game, 1st and 2nd year students worked on creating a new innovative product for an existing company, which will increase sales by 30% and profits by 15% in 2 years. A comprehensive analysis of the company involved analysing the company's strategy, finances. The students proposed measures to bring the product to market, assessed the need for additional resources, identified changes in staffing, technical and IT support.

The skills acquired during the game were useful both in terms of practical application of the programme courses and allowed students to feel like real professionals from Wall Street.
