Project work for the master program "Finance"
On April 18 the course "Projects" started - an obligatory discipline for the master’s programme in which students have the opportunity to implement all their skills and knowledge to solve business problems, participate in projects defence and get perspective proposals from employers. The students could solve real business problems from potential employers and receive detailed feedback from company representatives.
On April 18 the course "Projects" started - a course in which students of the Master's program "Finance" perform business cases for Russian and international companies under the guidance of experienced mentors with extensive experience in business. All projects are supervised by Makarova Olga V. Olga V. Makarova has more than 20 years of practical experience as a financial director and director of planning, reporting and investment control department at such companies as AT&T-Lucent Technologies, Tele2, Gillette, Pratt & Whitney. The system of supervision on the part of the university makes it possible to implement projects using the most relevant methods, to receive prompt advice and recommendations, and to open new horizons of cooperation for the future.

Projects are organised as a platform for practical cooperation with employers: Russian and international partner companies of HSE - St. Petersburg offer students their assistance in solving real tasks and problems. Students are mostly engaged in consulting projects and developing strategies to improve efficiency and manage risks.
During the second year students test their knowledge and skills in project work. They get professional experience from interaction with business community, get acquainted with potential employers, and get proposals for future work.
The result of the teamwork is a completed project or a solved case for the company. Students defend their projects and receive detailed feedback on their work from company representatives.
This year business tasks were offered by the leading Russian companies in the sphere of consulting, banking, production, and stock market operation. The students solve business situations and tasks offered by the following companies: Pulkovo International Airport, Baltika Company, Business Solutions and Technologies (previously Deloite), Cbonds, LLC "SSP-Consult", LLC "Capital Legal Services".
At the opening of the course representatives of the company "Business Solutions and Technologies" gave a very useful and practice-oriented lecture on existing models of risk assessment and risk management systems in the company. During the lecture, the students got acquainted with accepted risk classifications, basic requirements to risk management systems, practices of risk management systems in the leading Russian and foreign companies.
