Data Analytics with ANCOR:Beyond Analysis, Building Systems for Effective Onboarding Buddies

In the fast-paced world of employee onboarding, ensuring that new hires integrate quickly and effectively is a top priority for companies like ANCOR, a leading consulting and staffing firm. Each year, over 300 employees join the company, and to improve the onboarding experience and increase its success, ANCOR introduced a new initiative: supports provided by experienced colleagues, known as Buddies. To streamline and enhance this process, ANCOR partnered with students from HSE University’s Master’s in Data Analytics for Business and Economics program to create a system that automates the assignment of Buddies and tracks their performance.

Data Analytics with ANCOR:Beyond Analysis, Building Systems for Effective Onboarding Buddies

The goal was to develop an automated system that could match Buddies to new hires based on various criteria, monitor the effectiveness of the Buddy program, and gather data on the interactions between Buddies and their new hires. By doing so, ANCOR hoped to create a more efficient, data-driven onboarding process that would increase employee satisfaction and retention.

The students brought fresh perspectives and strong analytical skills to the project, meeting ANCOR’s expectations for innovative, practical solutions. They conducted thorough research into digital onboarding systems and onboarding Buddy models, both within ANCOR and other companies, and proposed solutions that could be easily implemented. Their approach included developing algorithms for Buddy assignment, creating tools to track Buddy performance, and providing clear dashboards to visualize the data.

According to Aleksandra Bondarevskaya, Senior Specialist in Personnel Recruitment and Adaptation at ANCOR“The students demonstrated a solid understanding of real-world business challenges and the ability to translate these into actionable solutions. Their collaborative approach, combined with their attention to detail and willingness to learn, were key strengths that made the project a success.”

Overall, this partnership showcased the value of combining academic expertise with business needs. The students not only gained valuable experience but also contributed to the development of a system that will enhance ANCOR’s Buddy program and improve the onboarding process for future employees. This collaboration highlights how data analytics can go beyond just analysis, driving meaningful business innovation and improving operational efficiency.
