Students of the HSE – St. Petersburg School of Design took part in St. Petersburg Young Design – a contest for young designers and artists. Alexandra Arsentieva clinched first place in the ‘Community’ special project, Ksenia Gernik won second place in the ‘Recycle Sea’ nomination, and another unique project by HSE students was a finalist in the ‘Saint-Petersburg Merchandise’ nomination. The participants also got a chance to learn new things at a unique poster workshop curated for the competition by Mitya Kharshak, Head of the School of Design.

From December 1 to 17, Dr Margarita Kuleva, head of the Department of Design and Contemporary Art at the Higher School of Economics – St Petersburg will give a series of performative lectures dedicated to changing relations between space, body, and culture in the context of new travel. The project is structured around auto-ethnographic experiences and a historical investigation of 19th-20th century Russian culture in motion. The lectures will  be held in the English Channel Tunnel, an aircraft hangar, and Pushkin House in London, with access to live streaming.

In 2021, HSE University – St. Petersburg for the first time launched an admission campaign for the following master's programmes: ‘Data Analytics for Politics and Society, ‘Computational Biology and Bioinformatics’, and ‘Language Technologies in Business and Education’. With nearly half of the academic year being over, we decided to ask the master’s students about what impressions they have of the programmes so far.

A recipient of numerous professional awards, designer, artist, and project curator, Andrei Lublinsky has been placed among the most prominent public art artists in Russia, according to AD Magazine. Professor Lyublinsky is also a lecturer in the Division of Design and Contemporary Art at HSE University in Saint Petersburg. In this interview, he will reveal some secrets of the profession and get under the hood of the public art business.

In May 2021, 25 digital teaching consultants began work at all campuses of HSE University. Their task is to help colleagues teach effectively online and make use of digital technology in their teaching. All consultants passed a selection by the Expert Committee. Students of HSE University – St. Petersburg participated in the Global COVID Research Project of Connecticut College, devoted to the studies of the consequences of the COVID pandemic in different spheres. Interdisciplinary teams representing five universities worked on their research skills and gained experience working as part of an international team.

There is a student mobility programme in HSE - St.Petersburg that allows students from different countries study in Russia. Nowadays, students from Spain Mariona Sero and Berta Valles have courses with russian students of programme History.
