Course Syllabus

Abstract

The course provides practical and realistic perspective on various HR policies and practices in a context where international companies are facing high challenges related to ongoing changes in the local and global markets. Issues such as talent acquisition, onboarding, attrition and change management, workforce diversity, internationalization, employee engagement, as well as career and talent development are essential parts of this course, contributing to manage human talents not only today, but also in the future.

  • Explain the importance of culture and institutional legal context to IHRM.
  • Discuss the peculiarities of teams, networking, and the needs for learning in international companies.

  • Formulate tasks and develop HR business processes for multinational companies in the global context

  • Leadership in the 21st century. Global Succession & Career Planning, Training & Development
  • Values & Organizational culture. Stages of Organizational development based on Spiral dynamic theory.

Assessment Elements

  • non-blocking Individual assignment: an interactive dashboard
    This individual assignment includes two files: an interactive dashboard prepared in Excel or Power BI and the recorded presentation. Both files must be uploaded to smart LMS not later than the deadline agreed at the beginning of the course and set at smart LMS. No grades will be given if files are not uploaded to smart LMS.
  • non-blocking Group assignment 1: “Cross-cultural program for international assignees coming to Russia”
    Individual assignment must be uploaded to smart LMS not later than the deadline agreed at the beginning of the course and set in smart LMS. No grades will be given if files are not uploaded to smart LMS.
  • non-blocking Group assignment 2
    Group assignment 2: "Strengths, weaknesses and improvement actions suggested for international company based on the outcomes of global employee survey." The group should be not more than four members. Group presentation must be uploaded to smart LMS not later than the deadline agreed at the beginning of the course and set in smart LMS. No grades will be given if files are not uploaded to smart LMS / to those who didn’t participate in preparation/presentation.
  • non-blocking Exam
    The exam consists of 30 test questions: closed or multiple choice (up to 2 marks for each positive answer). No negative marks for wrong answers. Students take this exam individually. Total time: 60 min. Total questions: 30.
