8th International Conference on Entrepreneurship for Sustainability & Impact (ESI) 2025

From November 8 to 11, the international scientific conference on entrepreneurship “Entrepreneurship for Sustainability & Impact (ESI)” was held in Doha (Qatar).

The theme of the 2025 conference is “Frontier Technologies for Resilient Economies”. The conference was attended by scientists from various countries, including Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, India, China, and others, who study advanced technologies to ensure the sustainability of the economy and entrepreneurial firms.

Scholars of the Strategic Entrepreneurship Center of the St. Petersburg School of Economics and Management of the National Research University Higher School of Economics - St. Petersburg presented the results of their research.

Areseniy Bystrov, Research Assistant, presented two works: “From constraints to creativity: How bricolage and CEO intuition shape SME performance and performance variability” (co–authored with Shirokova G.V., Vlasova V. and Gupta V.) and The Role of Absorptive Capacity and Technological Capability in the Relationship Between AI and SME Performance: A Moderated Mediation Model” (co–authored with Shirokova G.V., Presnyakova A., Galinskaya A. and Anokhin S.). Both works are under review in highly rated international journals - Strategic Organization and Technovation, respectively.

Ilona Ryshtein, Research Assistant, presented the work “Navigating Sanctions: How CEO Commitment Shapes Resilience Strategies in Russian SMEs” co–authored with Kozachenko E.V., Bodolika V. and Shirokova G.V. The full-fledged manuscript has been accepted for publication in the FIIB Business Review journal.

Galina Shirokova, Professor of the Department of Management, Director of the Strategic Entrepreneurship Center, presented a work “The Role of CEO Personality and Bricolage Strategy in SME Resilience under Uncertain Environment: A Moderated Mediation Model” co–authored with Tregubova A., Tuganova A., Bystrov A. and Morris M. (reviewed in the International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behavior & Research).

As a result of the joint work in the sections, during the discussion of the presentations, feedback, valuable comments were received and new contacts were established with colleagues from the international scientific community.
