Bank Management in Practice: Guest Lecture by Alexander Vyalkov for International Bachelor’s Students
In his lecture, Mr. Vyalkov offered a comprehensive overview of how a major commercial bank is structured and managed. He discussed the decision-making process within the bank, the roles and responsibilities of key governance bodies, and the contribution of regional branches to the bank’s overall financial performance.
Particularly noteworthy was the business process matrix used at Bank Saint Petersburg — a tool designed to enhance operational flexibility and responsiveness. This matrix enables the bank to adapt effectively to both internal changes, such as launching new products or restructuring its branch network, and to external challenges.

The lecture sparked strong interest among students, who actively engaged with the speaker during the Q&A session and continued the conversation informally after the event.
We sincerely thank Alexander Vyalkov for his insightful and practice-oriented lecture, and for his willingness to share professional expertise with the next generation of economists and managers. We look forward to welcoming representatives of Bank Saint Petersburg at future events of the programme!
